A new journey of life for the welfare of all in the year 29
At the birth of Siddhartha Gautama, an astrologer predicted that he would either become a great emperor or a great sage. To ensure that Siddhartha Gautam did not become a monk, his father concentrated all the wealth in the royal palace and also prohibited the prince from going out. Even after so many restrictions, Siddhartha could not stay alone and left the palace.
Tapasya and meditation on the banks of the River Niranjana
After leaving the royal palace, he learned a lot of knowledge in many ashrams but Gautam Buddha’s curiosity was not satisfied. He meditated on tapasya on the banks of the River Niranjana for 6 years. Only three months of the six months had passed when five other monks joined him. One night it occurred to him that there would be no benefit in torturing the body like this. Then he woke up the next day, took a bath in the river, and started going to Uruvela village. Due to weakness on the way, he fell unconscious. At that time a woman named Sujata was going this way for puja.
Gautama meditated under a Peepal tree
Seeing a monk unconscious, the woman put Kheer in his mouth with her hands. When he slowly regained consciousness, he went to the forest to do penance. After a few days, Gautam Buddha meditated under the Peepal tree. After about 4 weeks, in a meditative state, he gained knowledge about the sufferings of the world and their solutions.
Celibacy means not committing adultery
He told us that we should know this. There is suffering everywhere in the world. It is possible to eradicate this suffering or the causes of suffering, and ultimately this path to eradication is the Eightfold Path. This is the true religion and to follow this true religion it is necessary to follow truth, non-violence, non-possession, and celibacy.
Buddham Sharanam Gachhami
Addressing the monks he said. All rituals are temporary. Keep working towards achieving your goal without any hesitation. Saying this, Gautam Buddha closed his eyes. The full moon of Vaishakh was spreading its full moonlight in the sky and giving the message of peace. Somewhere a voice was echoing in the atmosphere- Buddham Sharanam Gachhami, Dhammam Sharanam Gachhami, Sangham Sharanam Gachhami.
